We are back from a thrilling and eventually relaxing vacation with the family. Marshall was the perfect age for Disney World, and he loved every moment of it, and we were averaging thirty thousand steps a day. We stayed with my sister and her fiance during the trip and discovered he was quite the card shark when we played Euchre. The following week got some quality beach time with Marshall’s grandparents in South Carolina. Overall, it was an excellent road trip that was primarily smooth sailing except for some hard rain through the mountains in Virginia.
This week, I added a lesson called Recycling to the individual lessons area. As always, it is immediately available to subscribers in the Member’s Area. Speaking of the Member’s Area, I also added a video tutorial for the Egg Thief lesson yesterday. There are nine videos in the tutorial section, with many more on the way.
I will begin filming indigenous sports I played in PE class this week. Sport and culture go hand-in-hand, so when students are studying people from around the world, we make sure to include some of the sports they play in PE. A while back, I wrote a blog called “How to Teach Sports as Culture in PE” that goes into more detail if you are interested in reading more. Once I have compiled all the footage, I will begin editing it and creating video tutorials for those sports. However, I will not post those sports tutorials on the website but on YouTube. Many of the sports we will play are underrepresented on YouTube or online in general, and it was only through thorough research and trial and error we could recreate them in the PE classroom. I believe these tutorials will save people a lot of time and encourage more classroom and PE teachers to play these fantastic indigenous sports as part of their cultural curriculum.
