The Invent a Sport Lesson Series!

If you have not read lasts week’s blog, take a moment to read: Support Engineering in PE (and Field Day). This blog post explains how we can support the engineering process in PE. As an added bonus, it adds something extra fun for field day.

The Invent a Sport Lesson Series is six lessons designed to teach the engineering process in PE class. Students will come to understand different terms like constraints and prototypes, and in the process, invent a unique game of their own! I never seen the exact same game invented twice; the students always create something unique.

The lesson series takes 5-7 weeks to complete, so it works especially well for the end of year in preparation for Field Day. It’s especially helpful when you might be completely worn out and are counting the days until the school year.
