Good Samaritan Simulation

$3.00

Most of us have heard the parable of the Good Samaritan. I learned the story in early elementary school at a Catholic grade school. I thought it was unique to Catholic school education, but I was mistaken. Even if someone is not Christian, the story transcends religion. One of the reasons I fell in love with Montessori philosophy is its intentional practice of character development promoted through peace education.

This simulation recreates the idea of the parable of the Good Samaritan. It tests our students' ability to stop what they are doing to help a friend in need. So often, we get caught up in our own lives that we can miss an opportunity to help someone in our community. Success is not a race that relies on us to put blinders on and ignore others. This simulation reminds our students to keep their eyes open, especially to those in need.

Preparation:

·      This simulation will need a hallway

·      Have your racing material ready

o   For example, a cup of water, a book, etc.

·      You will need another student from (preferably) a younger class to be an actor for the simulation

Age: All Ages, but probably best suited for upper elementary and middle school
