Circuits

$3.00

Electrical circuits are a fundamental aspect of modern technology. They are used in everything from home appliances to complex industrial systems. At its simplest, an electrical circuit is a path through which electricity can flow. The essential components of an electrical circuit include a power source, conductors, resistance, and load. The power source, usually a battery or generator, provides the energy that drives the circuit. Conductors, such as wires or metal bars, allow the flow of electricity through the circuit. Finally, the load is the device or appliance that uses electricity to perform a specific function. Understanding how electrical circuits work is essential for anyone interested in working with technology or electronics.

In this game, the lines on the gym will make a circuit that the students will play in. Their job is to move the electrons (balls) as efficiently as possible with as few drops as possible. Any drop will be calculated into resistance, and at the end of the round, the students will see how much power their team had in their circuit. This game will reinforce essential concepts and mathematics in circuits, and they will work on their throwing and catching skills.

Materials:

·      A large gym with volleyball court lines

o   If your gym does not have these, one could use painter's tape to make the circuit.

·      Lots of tennis balls or other balls for catching and throwing

o   This game can be tailored for a specific sport that one wants to practice, whether baseballs and gloves, lacrosse sticks and balls, and more.

·      Cones or rubber disc dots

·      Pencil and paper for calculations

·      Whiteboard and dry-erase marker

·      Optional  - calculator

Minimum Number of Students Needed: You could play this game with as few as six people. However, this game can accommodate many more.
